Well, we arrived home from Oregon a couple of days ago. What a beautiful state that is! When I was a child, my family used to spend summers there - not to play, but to pick green beans. Regardless, we loved it, and those summers remain a focal point in my childhood memories.
Thanks to those memories, I decided we had to include Oregon in our search for a new home. Lucky for us, my sweet cousin Donna lives in the very area we planned to visit, and offered us a room in her beautiful, homey home. It was wonderful, being able to visit with Donna and her husband Robert - and Donna's niece, Ellie, who happened to be visiting at the same time.
Some places are just too perfect - we (meaning my husband and I) shouldn't even dream about settling down in places like that. We discovered that real estate in Oregon is a bit beyond our pocketbook. But that's okay...I still got to go back - as I've wanted to do for decades - and visit the land of my childhood dreams. Those words are not spoken lightly, as many of my dreams are "set" in Oregon.
Why is that, do you think? Are your dreams most often based around a certain familiar setting? Have you any idea why? Readers, who knows something about dreams? Do we visit certain places in our sleep because we were happy and secure in that place, or is it just happenstance? Does it work the other way, as well? Do we return unconsciously to places that were NOT happy and secure for us? Why?
Come on, folks...let's discuss!

I'm glad you had a great time in Oregon. My daughter is in the Springfield-Eugene area, which is about a six hour drive from where I'm at in Washington.
We've done lots of traveling to many parts of Oregon. It's a lovely state.
I am glad that you had such a wonderful time in Oregon, but if you are searching for a new home, why not include NW Arkansas in that search? Remember you have old friends here...
Having spent a significant amount of my youth with only a chicken wire fence separating your back yard and mine, I too remember my family traveling to Oregon and Washington State in the summers to pick strawberries in Oregon and Apples in Washington. That too was my family's idea of a vacation.... I would not trade the memories of those "Vacations" for anything now.
I happen to know first hand that NW Arkansas has a lot of similarities with Oregon, with less rain. Come see us, bring the whole clan, you have a place to stay with an open invitation.
Love, Your Friend

I think that a lot of people dream of those places that they were most secure in. I know that it seems to be that way with me. I dream a lot of my grandparents........such happy times........that I can never get back. Hey what about moving to Alabama......we have been here 14 years and we still love it. God knows where you need to be.....wait on Him.
How sweet to receive all these wonderful invitations! :) Thank you, friends! And Theresa - oh my goodness, talk about a blast from the past - how wonderful to hear from you! Looks like we're headed for Oklahoma, probably within a few days. Anybody familiar with Okmulgee?
